NanoMist atomizer (which is called “NanoMister” and often “mister”) is patent protected product design. NanoMister is fabricated and assembled with off-the-shelf parts. Considerable R&D time was spent on optimizing the mist throughput and mist properties. The mist to air ratio can be independently varied by controlling the inlet air mass flow to the mister in order to produce highly concentrated NanoMist or a lean mist for specific purpose. A highly concentrated mist can be used for applications such as cooling, inerting, and blocking oxygen into the fire source. In case of oil or fuel spill, highly concentrated mist can prevent auto ignition by blocking air entrainment into potential fire situation.
The inlet air to NanoMister can be mixed with a desired volume of nitrogen (volume %) in order to increase the efficiency of extinguishment (in addition to water mist cooling power) and also to accelerate the mist discharge velocity for certain applications. A 10 %(volume) of nitrogen can reduce up to 50% mist requirement in a micro or total flooding scenario.
The mist throughput (mass flow) depends on several factors but most importantly on the applied voltage (usually 36 V AC) and water temperature, can increase roughly up to 50%.
Depending on the size of the atomizer used, at least 3 NanoMister configures are shown here. In this case, the main NanoMister body is fabricated from stainless steel. Any high temperature plastic or fiberglass materials may be used depending on fire protection configurations. Note: all parts of NanoMister design are available off-the-shelf. If the mister is connected via transport duct and NanoMister is not exposed to fire, fiberglass may be good material.
These NanoMister mister designs and capacities can cover a full range of product market areas from small enclosures, sectionalized flooding, restaurant fires. The mist throughput is reasonable for a number of selected industrial applications such as cooling, inerting, fire prevention, and fire suppression applications.
While several NanoMister configurations can be fabricated, we are showing 3 mister designs with increasing mist generation capacities. The specific mist throughput depends on the water temperature and applied power. The standard height is about 12-inch. The top elbow height and shape can vary.
The captions Mister-L, Mister-M, and Mister-H refer to low, medium and high mist generation capacities, in these designs. The misting capacities of these range from 0.1LPM - 0.6 LPM depending on the input power and water temperatures.
For special applications requiring higher mist throughputs such as 0.8-1.0 LPM, "proprietary" atomizer disk components are available at 3X-4X increased efficiencies and can be fabricated/manufactured from the prototype. They are not available off-the-shelf.

The atomizer disk has a proprietary electronics circuit array to drive high atomizing capacity misting jets. The "new" misting disk is a prototype and has to be fabricated for production/manufacturing. If Hybrid system has large size room for total flooding, this misting disk can be installed in the same mister device.
